With the support of Mitaka Europe (Mitaka Europe GmbH), we proudly announce as of 2022, the start of a new training fellowship for training in lymphatic microsurgery.
Each year, two talented microsurgeons with a special interest in lymphatic microsurgery will be awarded on an application trial basis, the participation in our annual advanced training course in lymphatic microsurgery. This course focuses exclusively on teaching all modern microsurgical approaches to treat lymphedema (vascularised lymph node and lymphatic vessel flaps, LVA/MLVA). The excisional/volume-reducing therapy as well as other “non-microsurgical approaches” which build another very important pillar of the actual lymphedema treatment are not included in this course.
The fellowship will cover the entire accommodation expenses and the registration fee for the course.
Eligibility criteria:
- Age preferably under 35 years old
- The applicant is a member of the national plastic & reconstructive surgery society of attains membership in a society promoting lymphedema treatment and lymphatic microsurgery
- The applicant has spent a minimum of 3 years of surgical residency
- Applicant should already have experience in assisting or performing clinical microsurgery and/or lymphatic microsurgery
Deadlines:
The applications are to be submitted continuously between March and April of the same year.
After the closure of the submission frame, all applications will be analysed by the fellowship committee and the two winners will be communicated at the beginning of June of the same year.
Application file (online submission):
- Official letter from the department coordinator/chief where the applicant is coming from, endorsing the application and the participant and his/her application for this fellowship.
- Letter of Intent from the applicant, describing in detail why he/she has chosen to participate in this fellowship, how he/she plans to apply the knowledge attained at the course in the clinical scenario and also the previous experience with lymphatic microsurgery, clinical or experimental. It is important that the applicant will also provide a short description of his/her centre.
- An actualised Curriculum Vitae
- Signed declaration letter where the participant agrees in case of winning the fellowship to support the travelling costs on its own.
- Signed declaration letter where the applicant, in case of winning the fellowship and no-show at the course (without having priorly announced/communicated this officially), agrees to refund all the costs resulting from the non-used anatomical specimens (2400 EUR) and eventually hotel reservation cancellation (cannot be calculated in advance) to the organisation entity.
